Last Friday our Coalition send comments to the Environment Department on a very weak oil and gas air permit that they gave the public four days to comment on. I’ve attached the final comments and news advisory is attached below for your reference. Also here are two articles that have been published – Journal & FTD.
The Environment Department has now done a couple of things; the second of which we could use your help with.
1 – They’ve extended the comment period to January 30th. Written comments may be submitted to Elizabeth.firstname.lastname@example.org.
2 – IMPORTANT – PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CAN ATTEND ON FRIDAY – They are holding an open house will take place from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM on January 12th, 2018 in the Training Room at 525 Camino de los Marquez, Suite 1, Santa Fe, New Mexico. This is an opportunity for the public to learn more about NMED’s proposed permitting standards for oil and gas sources and voice their concerns. Experts have reviewed this proposal and found it to constitute some of the weakest air quality standards in the nation for oil and gas wells. This is an opportunity for New Mexicans to say that we deserve some of the best protections for our air and health in the nation, not the worst.
3 – There will be a formal hearing on this proposal on Feb. 12th and we will be back in touch about the opportunity to comment at that as well. But please do save the date. We may do group comments again on this so if you missed signing on the first time, we may be able to do something for the hearing. We’ll focus on the hearing more than the open house but we’d love if you could attend both.
Let me know if you have any questions.
